Took some cuttings today. I cut and planted in the greenhouse the following: Red Maples ( a cross between the silver maple and Norway Maple) a standard sugar maple and the sour cooking cherry tree that I have in the back yard. I really am enjoying this and hope to learn some new skills of planting. I do not think that I am supposed to propagate the maples that way but I will try this year. Maybe this fall I can try again and see if I can propagate some hardwood cuttings for planting next year.
I also decided to move the sweet potatoes into another container. I wanted to ensure that they were not drying out. They seem to be doing well. There are tiny root hairs emerging off the potato. I put them in a clear plastic container with a lid and gently moistened the medium.
I am away tomorrow on a trip to Waterloo with my class. I hope it is fun. We have planned a lot of activities so the kids should have a good time.
